Logan Nelson scores compositions that blur the line between live instrumentalists and electronic atmospheres, evoking thrilling textures unique to each project. He was recently named the Best Young International Composer at the World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent, Belgium. Logan attended the festival with Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins who later named... him a “must watch composer.” Logan has worked closely with Emmy-winning composer, Kris Bowers. With Kris, Logan wrote additional music on Netflix’s critically acclaimed Dear White People and ABC’s For the People. Following these projects, they worked on the Golden Globe-winning film, Green Book, compiling both the original score as well as many of the source tracks. Logan also worked on Monsters and Men which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and was a credited composer on Unstoppable, which premiered at Tribeca. Before Kris, Logan worked at Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions. Logan is currently scoring, Straight Up, a romantic comedy that is being produced by Valparaiso Pictures. When not scoring for film, Logan enjoys writing for other mediums, like dance; his piece Into and Out Through, conceived in collaboration with five choreographers, recently completed two sold-out performances. He also produces for the synth-pop duo, LightHouse which was described by Flaunt Magazine as "a seemingly flawless combination of various synthetics that not only pleases the ears but causes listeners to get up and dance.” Additionally, Logan is a signed composer with Score a Score and Found Objects Music. He has written on various commercials for Google, Nexus, IBM, and Prudential. He has scored over 40 short films, two web series’, and a video game. He attended the University of Southern California where he majored in Music Composition and minored in Cinematic Arts. Logan has played the viola in symphony orchestras across the midwest and enjoys incorporating it in his scores. He is also trained in classical and jazz piano. He loves 35mm photography, funky socks, and rewatching episodes of the Twilight Zone. Logan resides in Los Angeles, California.
